There's lots to like about living the RV lifestyle. And regardless of whether you're doing it on a full time basis or just during family vacations, one of the best parts is bringing the comforts of home along with you. The best is even better now that you can include surfing the net in that list. It's all become possible with the technology that is RV satellite internet.

The RV lifestyle has been one of the best kept secrets, but maybe it's time to let everyone in on it. Many have discovered the joys of travel and making money working an online business. Whatever the situation, one of the biggest drawbacks has been doing without the internet. That's all changed now. With the availability of RV satellite internet, you can stay connected almost anywhere and anytime.

If you own a new motorhome or fifth wheel, it may come equipped with a satellite internet service. If you are looking for a new unit, try to get this included when you purchase. But even if your RV is an older model, you can still get satellite internet.

There are basically two kinds of systems. One comes pre installed right in the recreational vehicle, while the other is a portable, manually operated unit. You will get equal high speed internet quality for either.

The pre installed units are fully automatic and so are a lot more convenient. When you arrive at your campsite, getting your unit ready to use is as simple as pushing a button or clicking on your mouse. The system is most often located on the roof of the RV. It will automatically deploy and align itself without you having to do anything physically.

Because the portable units are manual, that means you have to set them up and align them each time you get to a new location. It shouldn't take more than ten or fifteen minutes to do once you get used to it. What you have to do is place the tripod in a spot where there are no obstructions, as you need a clear view of the southern sky. After that's done, align it to get a good signal from the closest satellite.

Doing all that is not as difficult as it sounds. And actually, in some ways, using a portable unit is a lot more flexible. For instance if you are camping among trees, you can easily move the tripod until you have a clear view of the sky. It's not always an easy matter to park an RV in the optimum spot.

Of course the downside is that each time you move on you will have to store the unit and then set it up at your next destination. You probably won't take the time to do this if you stop for lunch, but when setting up your internet access becomes just another part of your routine when you stop for the night, it's not so bad.

Consider the endless possibilities. Now you can go on that family vacation you've been planning and still keep your online business going. The kids can stay in touch with their pals and you can send photos along to friends. It's all possible with an RV satellite internet service.
