A common indicator is when the web pages we are browsing download really slowly.

To help find the problem there are some easy things you can attempt yourself. A personal computer has a function generally known as the Task Manager. It is quick to get to by clicking right on the bottom toolbar of the desktop display screen and from the pop-up menu and additionally click on "Task Manager".

Over the bottom of the Task Manager screen is a bar that says: "Processes", "CPU Usage" and "Physical Memory". These are the number of computer process currently active and running, the percentage being used of the CPU's (or central processing unit) specifications and the amount of short-term memory storage (or RAM) utilized.

When a PC's CPU Usage remains higher than 70 to 75 percent for prolonged it will slow down the computer's speed on the Internet along with other functions. And also if the RAM or Physical Memory being used by the processor is over around 60 to 70 percent it can make it to appear like a slow Internet connection problem. This can be compared to a storage room at your house which is just too full and crowded and it takes more time to find the things you are needing.

Another common problem affecting our surfing and overall computer performance is Window's Host errors. Have you ever have seen a pop-up saying that Windows Service Hosts has had a problem and was shut down? The Host Process for Windows Services is much better known as the svchost exe (or SvcHost). There are various of these "hosts" also listed in Task Manager.

The usage of Hosts is among the several techniques Windows employs to speed up our computer's performance by combining "services" together that are used collectively. The organization of functions is essential to help our computer run faster and assist slow Internet connection issues.

These kinds of hosting problems are caused by conflicts that can be the result of a virus that has infected your computer. Some Trojan viruses and some worms use a svchost as their hiding place and can be hard to locate and remove. If you find this error box popping up on your PC very often you need to run a complete system or "boot" virus scan.
