Internet Providers in My Area and Its Different Services

Living in the outskirts of a metropolitan area leaves residents with a lot of competing companies for internet services. One big question is what internet companies in my area and who has the greatest service. The Chicago Suburban area has a number of internet providers on a multiple number of platforms for offering services. To name a few of the major providers there is AT&T, Comcast, Cricket, Clear, Verizon, Sprint, AOL, and T-Mobile. These are not the only providers but they are the ones with the greatest market presence. Each of these providers is able to provide a substantial service whether it is through wireless, WIFI, DSL, Dial-up, or digital. Internet companies in my area are a dime a dozen.

When shopping around for internet services, there are a few questions that must be asked. A consumer needs to know the speed available, fastest and the slowest. The consumer needs to know whether there are any bundling discounts, or are the services better as a stand-alone. Looking at the discounts and the bandwidth is a good way to start, but there has to be consideration of the startup or installation cost, there has to be consideration of the customer service available and whether or not there is too much downtime. Business and residential customers have varying and different needs so they should never be expecting the same response to these requested pieces of information.

Each of the companies has the ability to offer dial up with AOL, Wireless through Verizon - Cricket - Clear - Sprint - AT&T - Comcast - T mobile and others, DSL through AT&T or Comcast, or digital through AT&T or Comcast, with the most common purchased being digital services from Comcast. The various internet options in my area can service a broad range of needs and they all must be considered with a grain of salt.

Most people are now convinced that Comcast is the fastest internet provider in my area, thanks to the current advertisement by the company. As I have personally tested both, I am under the impression that these ads are correct. The only problem with the service speeds of Comcast over AT&T is that, Comcast may be faster, but not always necessary. Comcast offers more of the bells and whistles, while AT&T is giving the customer what it needs to connect and stay connected even on the go. Comcast offers the on-the-go as an additional service, while it is included with AT&T through its partners who provide free WIFI. Based on consumer sentiment, Comcast would be considered the fastest internet provider in my area.

The internet providers are different and service a number of different needs for the consumer. A smaller internet provider in my area is RCN, but there are still others that can offer services. The smaller internet provider in my area would have a harder time providing the customer support base that consumers need in such a large market. With smaller providers, service is available, but there are trade-offs when only considering price as the driver for the final decision.
